A vision for a world-class city

We believe in Christchurch’s potential to be one of the world’s most desirable cities, and we’ve set our sights on making that vision a reality.

Blending hands-on knowledge of the construction industry with a long and successful history of investment we’re reshaping the city, creating a sophisticated blend of office, retail, and hospitality spaces designed to make the central city a vibrant hub of activity. We’re also turning our experience to the industrial sector, developing highly-functional buildings where businesses can grow and evolve, while our residential projects result in homes that perfectly complement today’s busy lifestyles.

Our Objectives & Philosophy

Countrywide Property Trust Limited holds a number of investment properties within wholly-owned subsidiary companies and is building a portfolio to a value of over $100 million.

The Trust has a clear objective for Victoria Street: to be first to develop high-quality, safe and secure commercial properties, that will house businesses displaced after the recent period of catastrophic seismic upheaval in Christchurch.

We select high-calibre tenants looking for longer tenancies who share our values. Our mix of tenancies is mutually supportive: it includes professional service providers such as law and accounting firms, design consultants; leading hospitality operators with citywide and national reputations; and plenty of support facilities for their employees, including health, fitness and car parking.

Our Founders

Mike Sullivan

Mike is a trained engineer with experience as a site engineer, chief surveyor, and project manager. He started his own construction company, Clearwater Construction, in 1985. Clearwater has completed many large-scale projects in Auckland including Westfield shopping malls and the West Auckland Swimming Centre. A large portion of Clearwater’s work is construction of inner city apartment blocks, with over 1,000 apartments built to date.

Mike purchased Dixon & Haddon Structural Steel Ltd in 1990, now known as D&H Steel Construction Ltd, subsequently elevating its performance to the position of market leader in its sector today. Mike remains Managing Director of Clearwater Construction and is also a director and major shareholder of Box Properties Ltd.

Richard Diver

Christchurch-born Richard is a builder by trade. It was a natural transition for him to move into development and investment. He has built up a wealth of development experience, local and national knowledge, and a superb network of contacts, over the last thirty years. As a Christchurch resident committed to the rebuild of his city, Richard is able to pinpoint local development opportunities and is committed to completing them to the highest standard.

With ten years of successful development in Victoria Street already behind him, he has an intimate knowledge of this specific area and a truly integrated approach to redeveloping the precinct. He is in a position to act quickly and has been able to achieve exceptional progress in a very short time. It was Richard’s focus and vision behind the first new building completed in the street since September 2010. Countrywide now has several more under construction.

We have a great relationship with both Richard Diver and Adele Childs, and their constant communication and assistance throughout the build process has been an immense help!
